Holi is the Festival of Colors, a traditional Indian holiday celebrated in our own innovative fashion.  By far our biggest festival of the year, during Holi 2009 thousands of revelers flooded the temple and grounds for a day of brightly colored powder, mantra, music and a bit of "holi" mayhem.

This year, realizing that Holi has developed a national following especially among college festival-goers, we are preparing more parking and more colors (by far) than ever before.  The music, the dance, the worship, the facilities -- everything is being upgraded for Holi 2010.

We look forward to seeing everyone there.

When: Saturday March 27, 2010 at Noon & 4 pm
Where: Krishna Temple, 8628 S Main St., Spanish Fork, Utah

The Tradition
In India, Holi announces the arrival of spring and the passing of winter. The festival breathes an atmosphere of social merriment. People bury their hatchets with a warm embrace and throw their worries to the wind. Every nook and corner presents a colorful sight. Young and old alike are covered with colors (red, green, yellow, blue, black and silver). People in small groups are seen singing, dancing and throwing colors on each other.

There will be musical interludes, the lighting of a bonfire, burning of an effigy, and the throwing of dry colors on friend and foe alike.  The dry powders supplied by the temple are non stain, but still guests are cautioned not to wear their “Saturday Best.”

Dance & Drama will commence at Noon and again at 4 pm. Bonfire lighting, color throwing, and mantra rock concert 1:00 pm & 5 pm. Arrive early to enjoy the excellent cultural program, avoid traffic, parking congestion and to get your bags of colors.

Directions and Parking :
There are 500 parking spaces on the temple property. We ask that guests please use them, or the shuttle buses and parking from Spanish Fork Fairgrounds (north) and Salem Hill High School (south).  Even while people are needlessly parking on the roadside and walking long distances to the temple, there are usually free parking spaces available.

If southbound motorists do not want to become ensnarled in festival traffic at the first Spanish Fork exit (# 257) they are advised to continue south on I -15 to the second Spanish Fork exit (# 253) and then follow the signs.

From Wilkinson Student center at BYU bus number 822 leaves every 10 minutes. That route goes right to the temple. Normally the trip is 30 minutes but may take longer due to festival traffic.
